Baked Methi na Vada / Baked Fenugreek Crisp

Yes I am nuts, try to baked and eat healthy food, but nothing wrong in it, if I don't succeed , will try again. But for this dish first time I was good, only thing was it was not shape perfect circle. Well , if I have to make it the way we make roti, still it wont be circle. so nothing to worry but if you are perfectionist, you can make circle.  My blog is to give ideas to you guys, to make food and nice pictures its your work, if you try any of my dishes then. Don't know how many of you ever tried my food. Well I tried some of yours. Anyway , back to this dish, its eaten as snack or with tea during winter in Gujarat. Its believe that during winter if you eat Bajri (millet) and Methi or any other greens (fenugreek leaves) its very good for you and winter is a season to store good things in your body to survive summer and rainy season. So this vada you can deep fry it too .

Ingredients :

1 cup chopped methi leaves (fenugreek leaves)
2 cups Bajri flour (millet flour
1 cup Whole wheat flour
1 tsp. ginger , garlic and green chili paste
1/2 cup plain yogurt
2 tbsp. pickle masala
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. each red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin - coriander powder
1 tsp. sugar or grated jaggery
salt to taste
2 tbsp. oil

Method:

Take a bowl and all ingredients and make nice dough.
Leave it aside for 10 minutes.
By that time pre heat the oven at 425F.
Grease a baking dish with nice layer of oil.
Take one round ball and apply oil in your hand.
Pat it with other hand and make thin round.
alternatively you can put it on your fingers and pat it with other hand fingers too.
Put it on baking dish.
Bake it till its got nice reddish color. turn in between so its cook from other side too.
Leave it on the dish till its get cold. Enjoy it with hot cup of tea, pickle or as it is.
Instead of baking, You can deep fry it too once everything is ready.

  15. I love vada so much, but my husband and I are trying to eat healthier, so baked vada sounds great. How long did you bake them on each side? I didn't see that.
