Mishti Doi with Blueberry - Sweet Yogurt - a Bengali Sweet dish

Bengal is in the Eastern part of India, very famous for its rich culture and food too. Everyone knows the sweets Bengal gave it to us like rasgulla, chum chum and list is long. They have lots of dishes which I still have to try, but this is a very famous sweet yogurt preparation which is so easy to make and relish. I am always a fan of this dish and while making this, wanted to give little twist so I added blueberry puree, you can add any berries or just make plain with a dash of cardamom in it and you will be heaven. Nowadays in a grocery market, you will find a lot of sweet yogurts so you think what is so special about this, well you have to try this to know the difference between readymade yogurt and this Misti DOI means sweet yogurt.

Ingredients :

1 can evaporate milk
1 cup brown sugar / condensed milk
8 oz. yogurt (fairly thick curd)
1/4 cup blueberry puree- optional

Method:

Put everything in a microwave bowl and mix it nicely.
Put it in the microwave for 1 minute, take out at 30 seconds and mix it and put it again for 30 minutes.
Take it out, let it come out to room temp and put it in the fridge.
Take out after 2-3 hours, or best overnight, and enjoy this sweet dish.

Alternatively, you can bake it in the oven too.  Turn on the oven at 300F. , mix all the ingredients in oven proof dish and bake it for 40 minutes. Turn off the oven after 40 minutes but leave mishti doi inside, slightly cover with aluminum foil for overnight. Then in the morning refrigerate for 2-4 hours and serve chilled.

You can make it without any fruits too.
