Methi Matar Malai - Restaurant Style

Sometimes I like to eat what we eat outside specially Indian food and who has amazing restaurant style dishes than  Kanan's blog. I am a very big fan of her recipes, its simple, authentic and delicious too. If you "follow" my FB Page, you know that Few weeks ago I gave a shout out to her space on my page. when she posted this recipe , I have to make it. Because I am a big fan of methi. I also have this Methi Matar malai with Tomato puree, not the way restaurant style, so When she posted it I have to make it and share it with you all.

Thanks Kanan for awesome recipes and big thank you for coming up delicious dishes so we all can enjoy. Got the inspiration from here..

Ingredients :

For onion paste :
1 tsp. oil
1/4 inch cinnamon stick
2 cloves
2 cardamoms
2 black peppercorns
1 green chili chopped
2 garlic cloves chopped
1 cup onion big chunks
2 tbsp. cashew nuts

Rest of the ingredients:

1 cup frozen green peas - thawed
2 cups of washed and chopped methi leaves - add salt in it and keep it aside.
2 tbsp. oil
1/2 tsp. cumin seeds
1 tsp. garam masala
salt to taste
1 cup water
1/4 cup cream / evaporated milk / half and half. I used evaporated milk

Method:

First we have to make onion paste so for that heat the pan.
Add the oil and add whole spices, saute for a minute and then add ginger, garlic, green chilies.
Cook for a minute or two.
Add onions and cook till its pink. Let it cool down.

Meanwhile get ready with methi.

Wash, chopped and add salt in it and leave it for 10 minutes and then squeeze it.
Grind the cooked onion mixture along with cashews.

Heat the pan and add the remaining oil.
Add cumin seeds and let it sizzle.
then add onion paste and cook till it starts to leave the sides of the pan.
Add salt and garam masala and mix it.
Now add  Methi leaves and water and cook till methi cooks.
When there is no water left and methi is cook fully, add cream and simmer for 3-4 minutes.
