Tamarind Quinoa | Quinoa in Tamarind sauce and spices

Quinoa is a healthy grain so we use it where we used rice , there are lot of ways to incorporate quinoa in our diet , you can use regular one or red variety , everything is good. I have regular one and I was very keen to use it in Indian style. If possible I try to make authentic way, like if I am making mexican dish so I use only mexican spices , same with Italian, dont like to mix up too much. But love to play with Indian ingredients in Indian food. So When I was thinking how to transform quinoa Indian way,, first I think lets make tikki, but saw lot of people using it that way, so  thought to make it as we make Tamarind Rice . Everything is same just instead of Rice, I used Quinoa and cook quinoa in tamarind water only to get maximum flavor. I made this for my lunch and I was so hungry , I didn't wait till its tail comes out, means its fully cooked. Just al dente and took click some pictures and had it, well blog comes second when hunger strikes.

Ingredients :

Make a powder of

1/2 tsp. chana dal (Split yellow lentils)
1/2 tsp. Urad dal (Split black gram)
1 tsp. Mustard seeds
1/2 tsp. cumin seeds
1/2 tsp. peppercorn
1/2 tsp. Fennel seeds
5-6 curry leaves
2 dried red chilies

Roast these all ingredients in dry pan till nice aroma come. Cool it and then grind it in a fine powder.

Other Ingredients :

1 cup Quinoa
2 tsp. oil
1/2 tsp. Mustard seeds
2 dried red chili
4 -6 curry leaves
2 tbsp. Peanuts
1/2 tsp. chana dal
1/4 tsp. Turmeric Powder
salt to taste
1 cup of  tamarind water (dilute paste in one hot cup of water)
2 tbsp. Roasted and grind powder

Method:

Heat  oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, when its crackle add curry leaves , dry red chili, after few seconds add peanuts, chana dal. Roast for 1 minute.
Add tamarind water and add quinoa along with roasted powder, turmeric powder, salt.
Cover it and cook it till quinoa cook and its tail come out, add more water if that is not enough.
Check in between to see if there is enough water is there or not.
When its done, Enjoy with papd or pickle.
