Tofu Lettuce Wrap

This is very famous restaurant P F Chang's dish and being a vegetarian they don't have much options but this is very famous dish of theirs. so when ever we dine there , we always order that, but after that they have same old menu so don't feel like going there again and again. And when you can create same dish at home in half of the money why to waste money and gas to go there. I used to make this dish at home before even I had blog. But after blog I made it first time and there is no better time to share this with you all. I used spicy tofu which I got from Chinese store, but you can use any firm or extra firm tofu. I have added red pepper to more crunch but you can omit it.

Ingredients :

For Cooking sauce:
1 tablespoon soy   sauce
1 tablespoon vinegar
2 tablespoons vegetarian oyster sauce
2 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon  sugar (optional)
2 teaspoons corn starch

(mix everything in bowl)

 Marinade

1 teaspoon  cornstarch

2 teaspoons vinegar

2 teaspoons soy sauce

1 teaspoon sambal sauce (chili sauce)

2 teaspoons  water

Other Ingredients:

3 small blocks of Spicy thick dry  tofu (chopped in small cubes)
2 tbsp. peanut oil or sesame oil (or mixed)
1 tbsp. fresh minced ginger
2 garlic cloves chopped
1/4 onion chopped
4 oz. can bamboo shoots
4 oz. water chestnuts diced
1 head iceberg lettuce
few mung sprouts

Method:
In medium bowl, vinegar, soy sauce, chili sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, and water. Mix well and stir in tofu. Allow to marinate for 15 minutes.

marinated tofu

Heat wok over medium-high heat. Add the mixed oil and stir fry tofu for 2-3 minutes Set aside.

Add the ginger, garlic and onion; stir-fry for about a minute. Add bamboo shoots and water chestnuts; stir-fry for another 2 minutes

Return tofu to wok. Add cooking sauce and cook until thickened (about 2 minutes).

To serve :  take tofu mixture in plate and take one big leaf of lettuce , take two spoonful of mixture and put it in lettuce, top it with crunchy sprouts  and fold it and enjoy.
