About this dish, I wanted to make it since last year. But some or other reason, I could not make it, this time when I got red potatoes I promised myself that I will make it , no matter what. So finally I made it, When I put the potatoes in water to boil, I realized that I did not have tandoori masala packet. Ok take a breath, no worries, you can make tandoori masala in two seconds. Did it and enjoy it. Normally this dish people made it with olive oil, salt, pepper, parmesan, rosemary and cheese. I did not wanted to make that way. Basically if you are a potato lover, you are in heaven with this, perfect for BBQ days during summer. so going to make this. You boil potatoes, press it down with potato masher , apply paste, baked it and enjoy. We had it with out grilled eggplant and Portobello mushroom sandwich made by dear huby.
Ingredients :
6-8 Red skin baby potatoes (you can use any baby potatoes)
1 cup yogurt
3 tbsp. tandoori powder
( made in jiffy, 1 tbsp. each Kashmiri red chili powder, cumin and coriander powder, garam masala powder, 1 tsp. turmeric powder, 2 tbsp. crushed kasoori methi, mix all powder masala and add crushed methi , done)
salt to taste
lime juice as per taste
2 tbsp. oil
Method:
Take a bowl, add yogurt in it, add tandoori masala , salt and lime juice and make a nice paste. Keep it aside.
Wash potatoes thoroughly.
Put the big pot with water in it. When its boils, add potatoes and cook till fork tender.
Meantime, preheat the oven at 450 F.
Grease a baking dish with generous amount of oil. that will help potatoes not to stick.
Once potatoes are done, take it out.
Put it on baking dish.
Give enough space them.
With potato masher , gently press down till potato slightly mashes.
With brush, apply tandoori paste generously on them.
Put it in the oven till 20-25 minutes or until it looks nice and crunchy.
Take it out.
Put it in dish, insert toothpick and take a bite. Oh you welcome. enjoy.
