This is one of my favorite dish from my mom. Actually before making this dish I called up my mom confirming how she make this and I made it. It goes perfect with roti or rice. There are two ways to make this dish but my mom makes this way so I am sticking with this one cause that's how I grow up eating with it. You can make okra and long beans also same way in yogurt. I will post those dishes in near future.
Ingredients :
2 cups gavar (cluster beans)
1 small onion chopped
1 potato cut in big pieces (that's how I like it but you can cut it as per your choice)
1 tsp ajwain (carom seeds)
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp cumin coriander powder
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp ginger, garlic, green chili paste
2 tsp red chili powder ( I love spicy)
1 tbsp. tomato puree or 1 big chopped tomato
salt as per taste
2 big spoonful of plain yogurt
2 tsp oil
Method:
Cut beans from both sides and take out any vain on sides.
Try to cut it in same length so it cooks perfect.
Heat a oil in pan, Add carom seeds, when it changes color, add onion.
cook onion till it becomes slight pink.
Add ginger , garlic , chili paste, all powder masala and tomato puree.
Mix it well and cook for minute or two
Then add beans and potatoes , coat them with masala and add enough water to cook beans and salt.
Cover the lid of the pan and let it beans and potatoes cook and water is almost evaporate.
Turn the gas flame on low and add yogurt , make sure no yogurt water in it and mix it well and cook for minute only.
Serve hot with chapatti or plain rice.
