Sugar Free Dry Fruit Burfi - Guest post by Gloria Fernandes

You met some people in life and you just click, you don't need any face to face meeting or talk, just click. Same thing happen with Gloria from Pepper, Chilli and Vanilla. We just started commenting on each other's blog and then FB chats and done. Feels like we are two sisters in one soul. One more reason is she is same background as me so that was it. When I asked her to do guest post, I knew she is not going to disappoint me and she did not. She loves my healthy twist in dishes and that's why she brings one healthy but yummy treat too. She just had her first year blog anniversary but feels like she is much more mature in blogging world with so many varieties she has, specially all non veg dishes she creates I used to have those before marriage and yummy desserts are out of this world. try her carrot halwa, or Paneer Masala name a few.

I really feel honored to do a Guest post for my dear friend Linsy who is a very active blogger & a very supportive  friend.I love Linsy's blog its filled with mouthwatering veg dishes .I really  like the health twist she gives in each recipe.So when She asked me for a guest post I happily accepted but very confused what to post for since she's already posted so many wonderful dishes & whatever she post she sees to it its healthy enough ..Like medu vada which she bakes & kale spinach muthiya to name few...

Then I thought I will make some sweet for her since she's celebrated 2 years of blogging a day before my blog turned one .So thought of making this dry fruit burfi keeping in  mind Linsy's blog I decided to make it Sugar free .I have made burfis before but it was either loaded with sugar or condensed milk to sweeten it.I made this delicious burfi with mixed dry fruits & used figs n dates for sweetness .Do give it a try and you will love it for sure

200 gms mava/khoya
1.5 cup mixed dry fruits(i used cashews,walnut,almond ,Pistachio)
8-10 seedless dates 
3-4 figs.
1 tbsp ghee
1 tbsp milk 
1/4 tsp nutmeg powder
1/4 tsp cardamom powder


In a mixer grind the dry fruits coarsely .
Blend the dates,figs with milk to a puree.
Grease the tray/thali with some ghee.
In a Non stick Pan heat ghee then add mava and fry on low heat till it turns light brown.
Now add the  ground dry fruit & fry for 8-10 min.
Then mix in the dates & figs puree & keep stirring.
Add the nutmeg & cardamom powder and mix well .
Keep stirring till the mixture leaves the sides of the pan.
Switch off the flame and pour the mixture on the greased thali .
Allow it to cool and cut in desired shapes.

  8. Delicious and great with sugar because I don't really like anything with too much of sweetness. I need to find the khoya and later on, dive into the recipe.
