Dalwada / Spicy Lentils Fritters

Well from where I came from , in my city, its famous for its dalwada. First rain drops and everyone line up to get hot spicy dal vadas  from famous Gandhidham station, or Ambika or any lariwalas. We used to have it from Gandhidham station, don't know now they are exist there or not? then other spot was next to  Red Rose, near H L college, on my way back from office always pick up one Kg. and we always had it there. Its not like that we didn't made it at home, My mom makes best dal vadas. She is so famous that friends and family always asked for her to make it whenever they visit us here,  in Christmas or just like that she makes that everyone loved it. . Now her dal vadas are famous among our friends here in US too. So I have to make it post here recipe and share it with you.

Ingredients :

2 cups of green split mung dal
1/2 cup Chana dal

Soak them in enough water for 5-6 hours and put in grinder and blend it. You don't need fine puree but enough to make balls out of it. Don't remove the green skin which comes out after soaking, take it and grind it too.

To add it in batter :

1 chopped onion
2 tbsp. green chili, garlic and ginger paste
salt to taste
1 tbsp. red chili powder

Mix the batter with spices in it, onion, green chili, garlic and ginger paste.
Heat up the oil to deep fry it.
When its hot, make a small size of balls and drop in the hot oil.
Don't overcrowd the pan.
Take out all the vadas in paper towel.
To serve vada, shallow fry green chilies in little oil, take it out and apply salt on it. Cut the onion and add salt in it.
