Matar Paneer / Peas and cottage cheese in creamy sauce

I think this dish is most tasted dish in all the continents, cause it's serve all over the world by Indian Restuarants and above all who is trying first time for Indian cuisine this is the perfect dish to start with. You can adjust the spice level as per your taste and goes very well with naan, kulcha or tandoori roti. You can get this dish in any fancy Indian restuant or even on dhaba. It taste and curry differ every where. But the goodness of peas and soft paneer taste is unbeatable. I use this gravy for other dishes too. You can add potatoes in it and make it aloo matar paneer, add mixed vegetables and it become Vegetable Korma. Even add spinach and it become palak aloo matar paneer. With this gravy possibilities are endless. You can find lot of recipes for this, but this is my version of Matar Paneer.

Ingredients:

1 cup Cubes paneer (fried)
1 and half cups Frozen peas (thawed)
2 medium onions puree
1/4 cup tomato puree
2 tsp ginger garlic paste
1 tsp coriander - cumin powder
2 tsp red chili powder (adjust as per your taste)
1 tsp Garam masala powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tbsp Kasoori methi(dried fenugreek leaves)
2 tsp oil
salt to taste
1/2 cup Evaporated milk (if  you don't find this use regular full fat milk or light cream)

Method:

Make a paste of onions with little water and keep it in blender.
Fry paneer cubes and keep it aside.
In a non stick pan, heat the oil.
Add onion puree and  cook till all the bubbles from it gone. Mean time add turmeric powder in it too.

You have to cook till all the water is gone from onion and puree is little bit brown.
It takes good 8-10 minutes.

Then add tomato puree, ginger garlic paste, all powder masala and mix it.
cook for 2 minutes till all become nice and oil seperates from gravy.
Add cup of water and add peas in it.
cook for 2 more minutes on medium heat till it's nice and bubbly.
Crushed Kasoori methi and add it along with salt & paneer.
Add Evaporated milk  and mix it. you can add more or less as per your gravy thickness.
Serve hot with naan, kulcha or tandoori roti.
Matar paneer is ready to eat.
I had it with Tandoori Roti and Black dal with raita.

It can serve 2 people
