Who says Vegetarian food can be boring? I am not. You have to look for the products in your supermarket and try it and make something new out of it. I was also looking for meatball recipe not from soya granules for a change. Because it requires eggs in the recipe and I do not wanted to add eggs, so When I got Tempeh I was pretty sure where and how I am going to use it. Then I find this recipe so without any delay I make it , bake it, use it and enjoy it. You can too, just follow this recipe or you can adjust the seasoning as per your taste and make it. Only changes I did from recipe is that it says use onion powder and garlic powder instead of that I use one white onion and whole bulb of garlic and it come out great. I baked it , next time I will fry it to see the difference in taste.
Ingredients :
Half package Whole wheat speghetti ( you can use thin or flat your choice0
1 bottole of good marinara sauce ( i used Ragu)
Parmasean cheese for sprikle
1 tsp italian seasoning
1 carrot chopped
1 onion chopped
few black olives chopped
6-7 cloves of garlic chopped
For Meatballs:
1 package of Tempeh
1 onion
6-8 cloves of garlic
1/4 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 cup Balsamic vinegar
1/4 cup olive oil
salt and black pepper to taste
1 tsp red chili flake ( per taste)
1 tsp Italian seasoning
Method:
Cut the Tempeh in 1 inch cubes and steam it for 15 minutes
Pre heat the oven at 350 F.
Place the Tempeh and under listed ingredients in food processor and process until tempeh is totally broken off and everything comes together nice.
Lightly grease baking dish and make a one inch meatballs and place it on cooking sheet.
Bake it in the oven for 20 -30 minutes until it nice and brown froll all side. chage their sides so it cookes from all the sides.
Assembly :
Now make pasta as per the package direction.
Heat a tsp of olive oil and add chopped garlic, when oil become garlicky, add vegetables and cook for 2 minutes.
Add pasta sauce, italian seasoning and cover and boil for 5 minutes. that will give cooking for whole day kind a flavor. Sprinkle some parmasean cheese.
Add pasta and meatballs and mix it up nicely .
Take a bowl and enjoy little trip to Italy without leaving your house. You can have this with Garlic bread and red wine. choice is yours.

ReplyDeleteTempeh is so popular at my place and cost just a fraction. Interesting how you worked on the fermented beans and paired the fried tempeh balls. This should be much loved by most of my friends. Will forward your link to them.
